The Development & Etiology of Anxiety & Related conditions Laboratory leverages interdisciplinary collaborations to provide novel insights into the etiology and development of child mental health. We understand the importance of collaborative, team science and are always eager to connect with like-minded researchers around the world.
Separately, students and trainees may join the lab through many avenues. Details are provided below about the most common pathways, though this is certainly not an exhaustive list.
Postdoctoral Fellow
The Canadian Tri-Council Agencies (the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) provide regular funding opportunities to support postdoctoral training. Students considering applications for postdoctoral training are encouraged to contact me, Dr. Rappaport, directly to discuss working together on an application. Notable areas of expertise include child & adolescent anxiety disorders, developmental psychopathology, psychiatric genetics, and quantitative psychology (e.g., structural equation models; mixture models; Gaussian and non-Gaussian multilevel models). Separate funding for postdoctoral fellows may be available depending on the timing and availability of external research funds.
Graduate Students
Graduate students join the DEAR lab through admission to the University of Windsor doctoral program in Clinical Psychology, specifically through application and admission to the Child Clinical Track. The doctoral program in clinical psychology, including the child clinical track, is accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association. More information on the program is available here. More information on the application process is available here. Please note the December 1st deadline for applications. I, Dr. Rappaport, try to ensure research funding for graduate students whenever possible. Funding is available from multiple sources including as a research assistant on research funded by the Canadian Tri-Council Agencies, scholarships from the Canadian Tri-Council Agencies, Ontario Graduate Scholarships, and graduate assistantships in the Department of Psychology. Students are encouraged to apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible. I provide students with mentorship and guidance in writing applications for scholarships and funding.
Students interested in applying to the graduate program are encouraged to contact me directly with any questions, particularly questions related to the application process.
